I am a practising midwife have been working in both the hospital and community for the past 12 years. I have worked extensively in breastfeeding clinics which has been an amazing experience. I live in East Lothian with my husband and three young children.
I am also really into keeping fit and healthy, something that was invaluable when I was pregnant with my 3 children. I went to aquanatal classes and it helped me feel lighter and revived for days afterwards. It is a form of exercise that midwives and health visitors recommend to pregnant women and new mums because it is safe and great for one’s wellbeing. It really helps you maintain a sense of well being and is an opportunity to meet other women in the same situation as you!
I trained as an aquanatal instructor in 2011 and then discovered I was pregnant. That was brilliant for me because it meant I was able to put to practise all my knowledge. I taught up to 36 weeks pregnant and then had a few months off. Getting back into the pool when I my baby was 4 months old was fantastic. And I can honestly say it has helped me get back into shape, remember where my pelvic foor is and help me relax!
I hold a midwifery recognized aquanatal instructor certificate with the company Professional Fitness and Education. This allows me to teach safe and effective
aquanatal classes for pregnant women.
I can also offer specialised one to one breastfeeding support for women and babies. I can help you with the common problems that blight the early days of parenthood such as nipple pain, poor latch and much more. If you need help with problems with feeding older babies that's fine too. One day everything can go well and then a problem can crop up. My aim is always to to help establish and maintain a happy, painfree, nourishing breastfeeding experience. I've also got lots of personal breastfeeding experience myself and have had lots of the common problems to overcome with my own three children.
